(Of Course I Mean Journalism)

What is Curation?
Curation seems to be a sort of next step for journalistic professions. It is a way for these professionals to stay relevant. So what is curation?
Curation is a way of compiling journalistic articles and information on a topic all in one place. As Sayid Ali says, curation allows readers to view more specialized content based on their interests. Curation, unlike journalism, allows the curator to express their opinions through the content they share and create. If done well, curation can allow you to be seen as an authority on a topic.
Why is Curation Important?
Curators are an incredibly important aspect of journalism, but why? It is because they effectively bridge the gap between the journalists and the readers. Curation makes content from journalists and PR professionals far more accessible to the public.
This journalistic tool also allows us to build meaningful relationship with specific audiences. When we curate information on a specific topic, we are directing information at a very specialized group, and therefore, we create a relationship with that group.
Curation Tools
There are a number of tools that can be used for curating. One I will be focusing on is Twitter Lists. Twitter Lists is a tool built right into Twitter, and it allows you to organize your feed. Oftentimes, our Twitter feeds can become overwhelming due the the numerous and varied accounts we follow. Twitter Lists allows you to create separate feeds containing content from specific accounts that you follow.
There are a number of other tools that can be used to curate information online, and you can read more about this here.
